The
four winners are determined by a random computer selection from
our full-year subscribers, so everyone has an equal opportunity
to win one of the four awards.
We've
named our scholarship program the Talmadge M. Warren Scholarship to honor one of our most beloved subscribers. Talmadge M. Warren
was a high school and middle school geography teacher in Big Stone
Gap, Virginia, for most of his 35 years in education. His dedication
to his family, students and community were surpassed only by his
dedication to teaching.
In
the fall of 1999, Mr. Warren passed away at the age of 65 after
a valiant battle with cancer. It was his final wish to have his
body donated to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine
to help young people become better doctors. Even in death, Mr. Warren
keeps on teaching. |
